99 The Gallery Hotel, Chiang Mai: Budget Boujee
Let’s talk about 99 The Gallery Hotel, where we spent four glorious nights living our best budget-friendly, semi-luxurious lifestyle for the grand sum of $185 AUD.
That’s right, folks, less than the cost of a Sydney brunch for two with overpriced smashed avo.
The Vibe
Think old-money aesthetics on a new-money budget. This place is slinging vintage European-style decor with all the black-and-gold flourishes of a 1920s art connoisseur who just discovered Pinterest.
There’s marble, there’s chandeliers, there are mirrors that may or may not show you your alternate dimension twin. It’s boujee, but you won’t need to sell a kidney to stay here.
The Room:
Comfy, clean, and fancy enough that I felt like I should be wearing a silk robe and sipping whiskey (on a budget, of course).
The bed? Solid.
The AC? Stronger than my willpower around street food.
The Wi-Fi? Decent enough to stream Netflix.
The breakfast? I’ve had worse.
Location, Location, Location:
Nestled in the Old City, meaning you can stagger back after a night out without having to negotiate with a tuk-tuk driver.
Temples? Everywhere.
Cafés? Plenty.
Markets? You bet.
It’s like being in the centre of a budget traveller’s dream, everything is walkable, and you won’t accidentally end up in a tourist trap where they charge you double for a Pad Thai.
Final Verdict:
Would I stay here again? Absolutely.
Would I recommend it? Obviously.
Will you feel like a baller on a backpacker budget? Oh, hell yes.
At roughly $46 AUD a night, 99 The Gallery Hotel gives you the illusion of luxury without the crushing weight of an overdrawn credit card. If that’s not budget travel goals, I don’t know what is.
