Ibis Budget Ruby, Singapore: Cheap, Close, and Questionably Cozy
Singapore… the land of futuristic skyscrapers, mouth-watering hawker stalls, and prices that make your wallet cry.
But fear not, fellow budget warriors, for I have found a place that won’t force you to sell a kidney on the black market just to afford a bed. Enter: Ibis Ruby, Singapore.
The Good, the Cheap, and the Delicious
First off, let’s talk location. This place is a hop, skip, and a short MRT ride away from all the action. You’re close to Aljunied Station, which means you can zip around Singapore.
Second, the price. In a city where hotels charge more than your monthly rent back home, Ibis Budget Ruby is the knight in shining… slightly worn armour. We paid SGD $356 for 3 nights (per room), which, in Singapore terms, is basically highway robbery… but, like, in a good way.
You’re surrounded by cheap and glorious eats. Want chili crab without remortgaging your house? Laksa that doesn’t taste like sadness? Hainanese chicken rice that slaps? Garlic hotate (scallops) that you mistake for hot potatoes (lol oops)?
Step outside and follow the scent of budget-friendly greatness.
I ordered hot garlic ‘hotate’, that I misread as hot potatoes… Luckily the boys like scallops… haha
The… Compact Realities
Now, I won’t lie to you (because honesty is my thing, along with sarcasm). The rooms? Small.
Like, “Am I in a hotel room or a very fancy shoebox?” small.
But let’s be real, if you’re a true budget traveller, you didn’t come to Singapore to lounge in your hotel room. You came to eat, explore, and make questionable life choices involving durian-flavoured snacks.
Final Verdict
Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Would I bring a cat in here? No, because it wouldn’t have room to swing its tail. But for SGD $356 for 3 nights, a cheap, convenient, and food-adjacent stay in Singapore? Ibis Budget Ruby delivers… if you don’t mind a shower where you might hit your knee on the toilet.
Just, you know, maybe don’t pack your entire wardrobe.
