Bali, Indonesia
2010, 2013 & 2015
As an Aussie, I love Bali. It’s close to home, warm, cheap and there’s so much to do! I’ve been three times, once with my family, once with Jae and once with friends. When people ask me where they should go on holidays, I’m a huge advocate for Bali, and I get slightly offended when people turn their nose up at my suggestion… Don’t knock it ’til you try it!
Accomodation
During my numerous trips, I’ve stayed in Kuta and Seminyak. To be honest I can’t really fault any of the accommodation; The Risata, Kuta Paradiso Hotel & Kuta Station Hotel were all clean, cheap and we didn’t have any problems with our rooms. When I stayed in Seminyak, we rented a private villa which was a little more expensive, but still cheap in comparison to Australia. Realistically, you get what you pay for, but everything was clean, within walking distance to shops and cafes and all the staff were friendly.
Day Activities
Markets
There is no shortage of markets in Bali, from Kuta markets to Ubud markets, there will be harem pants to suit anyone’s style. I noticed in my most recent visit to Bali, that they have begun to make bigger sizes. Previously it was a one size fits all kind of situation.
Monkey Forest
Some people love it, some people hate it. I personally love it. I’ve been to the Ubud Monkey Forest each time I’ve visited Bali. I would recommend a bag that zips up, and putting any loose items in it; ie sunglasses, cameras, phones. Or just be super aware, because the monkey’s are mischievous and will get upto no good!
Waterbom
Waterbom Park is a good for a fun day of water rides with friends or family. It’s about $50 AUD per adult, and about $35 AUD per child.
Uluwatu Temple
Uluwatu Temple is absolutely beautiful, and definitely a must-see for the culture seeking individual.
Elephant Safari Park
This was probably one of the single greatest experiences of my life. I have been in love with elephants since before I could walk, and this park enabled me to fulfill my life long dream of cuddling an elephant.
Night Activities
Potato Head
Potato Head is a beautiful club/bar/restaurant, and a perfect destination to finish your day with a few cocktails while watching the sunset.
Sky Garden
If you’re more of the party type, the Sky Garden might be for you! All you can eat buffet, coupled with cheap drinks and loud house music is the recipe for a good time! I know it was for me!
